    Julie Lunning to be new Chamber president
    The St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is pleased to announce Julie Lunning as the new president of the Chamber of Commerce.  She will replace long-time president Teresa Bohnen who is retiring August 31.  Julie is currently the executive director of the Chamber’s Convention & Visitors Bureau, a position she has held since 1998.  She will assume the role of president September 1, 2021.     U.S. Bank expands leadership team
    U.S. Bank has appointed two St. Cloud natives to top roles to lead the bank’s community banking footprint in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Mike Markman expanded his Region President role to include all of Minnesota and La Crosse, Wisconsin, excluding the Twin Cities metro area.     At Stearns Electric Association’s annual meeting, they elected a new director and board members.     Initiators Fellowship receives donation to expand
    The Initiators Fellowship, launched by the Initiative Foundation in 2016, is expanding to include the Northwest Minnesota Foundation and social entrepreneurs in its 12-county service area that includes two native nations.     87 students receive scholarships from CMCF

    Blattner Energy receives Job Creation Fund award from DEED
    Blattner Energy was one of five companies to receive awards from the Job Creation Fund through the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) for business expansions in their communities. Blattner received $175,000 towards a 70,000 square foot expansion on their current office building. The expansion is expected to create 15 new jobs over the next three years.

    St. Cloud Surgical breaks ground on $11m renovation
    Construction on St. Cloud Surgical Center began October 13, 2020. The 13,000 square foot $11 million renovation includes a remodel as well as 7,500 square feet of new space to accommodate a growing demand for joint replacements and spine surgeries.
    Marco purchases New Jersey company
    Marco recently announced its acquisition of Advanced Office Systems, a copier and printer company in Roselle, New Jersey.  Read more.

    Two Schlenner Wenner & Co. employees and St. Cloud State University graduates completed all parts of the CPA exam in 2020. Paul Vreeland received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and currently helps with business and individual tax returns. Sydney Wittnebel received her Bachelor’s in Accounting with a minor in Global Business and currently works with government and not-for-profit agencies.
    BerganKDV launches R.E.S.T. week to support employees
    The week of October 19 – 23, 2020, BerganKDV launched R.E.S.T. week focusing on four key elements to support employee wellbeing: Recharge, Energize, Support and Team health.     Initiative Foundation receives $150,000 grant
    The Initiative Foundation is set to receive a $150,000 grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration to help low-income entrepreneurs gain access to capital.  The grant will help fund the Program for Investment in Micro-Entrepreneurs, more commonly known as PRIME. The award will support the Initiative Foundation’s Enterprise Academy in St. Cloud, and help expand the program into Brainerd and the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.

    PFA awards St. Cloud over $40 million in 2020 project funding
    The Minnesota Public Facilities Authority (PFA) awarded $122 million in loans and grants in the first half of 2020 for water and infrastructure projects in 24 communities throughout Minnesota. St. Cloud received $40,055,140 for advanced modifications to the drinking water treatment plant.

    Brainerd bank acquires Plaza Park Bank

    Plaza Park Bank, with branch locations in Waite Park and Sartell, is being acquired by Deerwood Bank in Brainerd. Plaza Park Bank opened in 1910 in Rockville. All of Plaza Park Bank’s 40 employees will join the Deerwood Bank team. Deerwood Bank was founded in 1910 and has full service locations in Baxter, Bemidji, Blackduck, Brainerd, Deerwood, Garrison, Grand Rapids, Inver Grove Heights, Mendota Heights, Northome, and St. Paul. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2018.  Read more

    CentraCare Health Foundation receives grant
    The CentraCare Health Foundation received a $250,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Trust for the new Coborn Healing Center. Construction is underway on the new center with an estimated completion date of mid-2018. It will be located adjacent to the Coborn Cancer Center at the CentraCare Health Plaza. Once complete, the Coborn Healing Center will offer art and music therapy, support groups, spiritual well-being, fitness classes, integrative therapy (acupuncture, massage, healing touch) and an interactive kitchen/classroom.  Read more

    Wheelock among Top Wealth Advisors
    Brad Wheelock was recognized by Forbes magazine as one of ‘America’s Top Wealth Advisors’ for the second year.  The list, which included all firms, among all platforms, in all geographies included only three representatives from Minnesota.  Wheelock, a 30 year veteran, was the only out-state advisor to make the Forbes list.  He’s also been ranked among the top 1 percent of wealth advisors in the nation for the last nine years by Barron’s magazine, a Wall Street Journal publication.

    Falcon National Bank adds staff
    Falcon National Bank hired Joe Bahen as the vice president of finance. He brings 12 years of finance, accounting and audit experience to Falcon, most recently as director of financial planning and analysis with UnitedHealth Group in Minnetonka.

    Krump wins trip to Hawaii
    Independent insurance agent Deborah A. Krump, Waite Park, earned a trip to AFLAC’s 2017 National Convention at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Krump qualified for the October incentive by selling more than $245,000 annualized premium of supplemental insurance during AFLAC’s 39-week qualification period ending August 2017.  She is one of only nine Minnesota agents to secure the honor. Krump has qualified for the convention three times during her 14-year affiliation with AFLAC. Read more
